Sana's blog
Well, here it is. My official online journal of random crap that interests me. Smaller things, like dresses I like, tend to only end up on my twitter stream, though.
A Thing

I just tested out my new microphone. I had no idea I actually had a Cornish accent, I mean, I understand that, y'know, I'm from Cornwall, but...damn, I actually sound like a complete hick. O_o

(I'd originally intended to do vlogs but now I'm scared everyone'll laugh at my voice. I mean, it is youtube afterall.)

Heh, I've crossposted that thought half to death. Hapy new year guys.

On being genderqueer, with a small tangent about humanity and contradictions.
Sana on 11/20/2011 at 12:07pm (UTC)
 (crossposted from tumblr)

So, I’ve been thinking a lot about gender identity and such things lately. I don’t think it’s really fair to categorize people at all, but a lot of folk are happy fitting into a predefined box in terms of gender, which is awesome for them, I suppose. I’m not one of those people, as some (most?) of you will know by now.

I like the term ‘genderqueer’. It means, essentially, none of the above. Not male, not female, not intersex or androgyne or neutrois or anything else you can think of. Just me, Sana. It’s finally something that feels right.

This was going to be a “trans* 101”, but there are loads of those on the internet already and I’m too lazy to explain things anyway.

I’m a person, not a textbook on queer theory.

But something else I’ve wondered is, isn’t everyone like this, to one extent or another? Aren’t the contradictions what make people who they are? The man and the woman, the parent and the child, the whore and the innocent whose still squicked out by the concept of such things? People don’t make sense. And, therefore, they do.

Okay, that was almost philosophical.

So, I think imma switch german for politics, since I remember precisely no German from the past 5 years of me learning it, and honestly, what are the chances of me moving to Berlin anytime soon, right? So yeah. Switching to politics. Go me or some shit.

On college, art, and Axis Powers Hetalia- to slash or not to slash?
Sana on 09/10/2011 at 8:54pm (UTC)
It’s dumb, but even though I know that this -college and shit- is the sensible thing to do, part of me still feels like i’m selling out. Maybe if I’d taken art for Study Plus or something. I’ll talk to a lecturer about that on Monday, I think.

I mean, it’s not like I’d ever go back to my original plan of “leave for NY with a sketchpad and never look back” but…something. IDK.

Also, I ship UkUs now. Peh...my inherent dislike of the pairing was overruled by my love of sexy pirates and my...facsination..with dark, pseudo-incestuous, possibly dub-con/shota type relationships, and the hetalia kinkmeme paints them in that light rather often and it's pretty interesting. Guess I'm just a dark!fic whore.

But I guess my history geekdom is showing, combined with my tendancy to overthink things, in that I'm still trying to work out the...implications, if you will, of national personifications falling in love. what does it mean? Is it even possible? And how do real-world politics tie in to it?

(Pfft, at this rate I'm gonna end up writing about hetalia for sociology class or something.)

Thought of the Now
Sana on 08/24/2011 at 3:46pm (UTC)
I don't get humanity. How is it that we're smart enough to make all this technology, but still haven't mastered the art of not being dicks who go around killing eachother and crap (or at least ignoring such shitty things)? It's sad, when you think about it. Not that I'm really any better. #JustSayin
